A different kind of intelligence

These are some things that show emotional intelligence
  • Persistence / resilience - keeping going until you achieve something or when something is difficult
  • Deferred gratification - understanding that the rewards in the long term are worth waiting for and not looking for instant, but not so good, rewards
  • Mood control - being able to control how you are feeling and still work effectively when your are not feeling very positive.
  • Stress management - organising yourself to cope when you are stressed or under pressure
  • Empathy - understanding other people and how they are feeling and being able to react appropriately
  • Impulse control - not giving in to the temptation to do something without thinking it through properly
  • Optimism - looking for the positive things in a situation
  • Self-management - being organised with your work, your time and your energy
